Big Stir Records is proud to be the label bringing the long-out-of print works of cult favorite California college rock combo EGGPLANT to the streaming world for the first time ever. Still active playing reunion shows with their original lineup of guitarist/vocalists JEFF BEALS and JON MELKERSON, bassist JOHN KELLY and drummer DAVE TABONE, the band is fondly remembered for the two albums full of quirky, tuneful Modern Lovers/VU/Television-inspired guitar pop they delivered for Doctor Dream Records: MONKEY BARS (1989) and SAD ASTROLOGY (1990, produced by Russ Tolman of True West). The first of those is now premiering on all digital platforms worldwide for the first time every courtesy of BSR, whose co-founder Rex Broome will readily cite Eggplant as having been his favorite local band (alongside X) when he first to moved to Los Angeles in 1989.
